Description:

The son of Odr and Freya, Charles name is derived from the Old Norse karl, which means ‘free man’ and fits his personality. As an infant he was hidden away in the wilds of Oregon with his adoptive mother, Samantha Brown. Samantha was an Operator with psychic abilities. She met Jim Brannigan, a Techno-Wizard and former Ranger from Arizona, and they were married and moved to Seattle, where they opened a garage. When Charles was a teen, the couple split up and Jim left for Texas before he settled in the Vegas area. Charles attended the University of Washington before setting off on his own. Driving his Northern Gun Mountaineer, he set out to explore the wilds and see the world. He had always known he was special and his mom guided him as best she could in understanding his powers and not abusing or making a huge show of them. He set out to use his abilities to help others where he could. It turned out he had a knack for taking on the monsters that threatened humanity. Unfortunately those most in need also tended to have very little to give in the way of rewards, so Charles always seemed to be lacking in finances. Being self-sufficient proved to be a blessing during these hard times and he always seemed to get by.

Charles has recently returned from a long journey out to the East Coast and Great Lakes Region. After dealing with the strife and warring factions there, he is extremely happy to be back in the Northwest, albeit broke again. His adopted mother, Sam, runs an auto repair garage in the Seattle area and his adopted dad, Jim, runs a scrapyard outside of Vegas. Charles runs a tow truck when he isn’t out enjoying nature or hunting monsters. He dresses like a Victorian gentleman, is well educated, and speaks six languages. A stark contrast to his rusted out and shot up Mountaineer ATV tow truck. But the rescue services he provides are invaluable to those in need.

Jacques Mesrine contacted Brannigan through his old traveling companion, Shana Daeth, about joining the God Squad. His first gig was as extra security at a corporate fundraiser concert in the park. Acting as catering waitstaff, he helped shield the VIP’s when piles of possessed garbage attacked. By the end of the encounter, several buildings were set on fire by the team. Brannigan sat the next mission out to pursue a romantic liaison. His second active job was on board millionaire Anthony Stark’s personal spaceship. They ended up capturing a group of magic using pirates on Mars who were controlling space bugs as attack fodder to help them loot.

Destroying one of the three tires reduces the vehicle’s speed by 40%, imposes a driving penalty of -20% and may damage the vehicle more by riding on the rim. Destroying two tires renders the vehicle immobile until the tires can be replaced.

Armored plexiglass windows in the truck have 20 S.D.P. each, but a metal alloy plate covering slides into place in combat situations with the press of a button. The metal plating provides each window with an additional 50 S.D.P.

Depleting the S.D.P. of the main body shuts the vehicle down completely, destroys all internal electronics, and leaves doors with 1D4x10 S.D.P. remaining. Destroy the remaining S.D.P. and the doors open.

Speed: 120 mph (192 km) maximum on paved streets, dirt roads, stony deserts and flat surfaces; half that speed (or less depending on conditions) on grassy plains, sandy deserts and rough terrain. Woodland environments and very thick underbrush are likely to be impassable by this truck (and most vehicles) unless there is a well-traveled path to take; maximum speed is likely to be less than 10 mph (16 km) if passable at all.
Maximum Range: On gasoline, 600 miles (960 km).
Penalties: None on paved streets, short grass, dirt roads and stony deserts, -10% to piloting skill on gravel, tall grass, and shattered roads/rough terrain, -15% on sand, and in water, mud and snow as deep as four feet (1.2 m), -25% in thick underbrush and along wide mountain trails and extremely rocky and uneven ground (maximum speed is 15 mph/24 km or slower). Deeper water, mud and snow, as well as forests and dense vegetation, are likely to be impassable. This vehicle can ride across sand dunes and shallow water.

  • Two-Person Tent: Folded, it’s the size of a paperback book. Unfolded, it can sleep two people comfortably. Offers protection against the cold and rain; insulates and keeps people inside relatively warm at temperatures up to -40 degrees Fahrenheit (-40 Centigrade).
